Match report

The game started at a brisk pace but contained in the midfield and neither goalkeeper called into action.

It changed after 12 minutes when McNamee sent over a corner fron the left side which eluded everyone
except PAUL ESSLEMONT who, from a very acute angle near the touchline drove a low shot past a crowd of players into the far corner of the net giving keeper Clark no chance to give DYCE  the opening goal.

Play settled back in the midfield for the rest of the half and there was little of note to report until 43 minutes when the ball was played over the visiting defence by McNamee and Wallace was on it in a flash and chipped the outreaching keeper only to see the ball strike the post and rebound into play for SEAN NAPIER to react quickly and his shot was cleared off the line but he calmly stroked it home from 6 yards.

Half Time: DYCE JUNIORS 2 BRIDGE OF DON THISTLE 0

The 2nd half started with the visitors on the offensive and within 5 minutes they pulled a goal back.

A long ball from Murray on the right hand side found MUIRHEAD on the left hand side of the penalty box and he cut inside and although Pennycook got his hand to the shot it didn’t prevent it from crossing the line, 2-1 now and game on.

The visitors pushed for the equalizer but the homesters were holding them at bay although Pennycook was called into action a few times to save some long distance efforts.

DYCE were not out of it and were also pressing and when Wallace was brought down 22 yards out on the corner of the penalty box and PAUL ESSLEMONT stepped up and hit a glorious free-kick high into the keepers left hand side postage stamp corner of the net to put Dyce 3-1 up.

Bridge of Don didn’t lie down and still challenged the Dyce defence and Muirhead had a couple of efforts saved by the Dyce keeper.

As time wore on Dyce regained the ascendency and could have added to their tally but in the end it was a satisfactory performance against a team who has started the season very well.
