After the disappointment of losing the previous match to Hermes in the 90th minute, the hoops were looking to pick up three much needed points at Pleasure Park. Unfortunately we couldn’t even take a single point as the home side ran out 3-1 winners to send us to the foot of the table. Maud almost got the ideal start when Norris set up Smart but Yeats did well to block his effort on the line. The Dycers hit back and skipper Mark latched on to a through ball and tried to lob home keeper Fyfe but the custodian did well to stretch and save. Mark looked like he would have another chance but Whyte managed to get back and put in a fine blocking tackle. With half time approaching Andy was called upon to make a couple of excellent saves to ensure the scores remained level at the break.
The stalemate didn’t last long though into the second half, as within a minute the home side were ahead. Duguid played a through ball into the path of SMART and his left foot shout found the net. The same player had another chance soon after but Andy blocked well. The keeper then did well to thwart Cooper, followed by a fine double save that eventually ended with DUGUID netting from the second rebound. The hoops were back in the game before long though, when the ball was headed clear only as far as Mark BARTLET at the edge of the box and his low shot found the bottom corner. We looked to kick on from there but with 10 minutes remaining Maud sealed their win when COOPER fired into the roof of the net from the tightest of angles to make it 3-1.
