Match report

The hoops made it three games unbeaten, but it was mixed emotions at the end. When Ellon went into a 2-0 lead early in the second half we would have taken a draw in a minute, but after getting back on level terms we created enough chances to win the game and could and should have had all three points.
It all started very quietly and after 12 minutes of nothing happening Ellon took the lead out of nothing. A simple ball across goal found BAIN in space 6 yards out and although Andy made a great block the striker had a simple tap in from the rebound. Te hoops tried to get back into it and Wallace volleyed on the run straight at Fraser in the visiting goal. Ellon threatened again when another low ball found Bain but he knocked the ball wide. Gogs put a header off the face of the Ellon crossbar but the flag was up anyway and the Meadows side went in a goal to the good at the break. On the balance of play we couldn't argue as we had been a touch lacklustre.
We started the second half in a more lively fashion, with Steven B latching on to a through ball and his first time shot was well parried wide by Fraser. Just as it looked as though we were getting on top we gifted Ellon a second. With the ball running out towards the touch line off a Dyce foot, young Jae seemed to think it would be a Dyce throw and let the ball run out. When Ellon got the throw they took it quickly and BAIN was through. He sidestepped Tom Hutch and fired the ball across Andy into the far corner. Excellent finish to take advantage of the gifted throw. We really needed a quick goal to get back into the game and soon after we had two in a minute. firstly with 57 on the clock a free kick was flicked on to MARK B, and he was tripped in the box. Easy decision for the whistler and skipper/interim boss Mark took the spot kick himself and although Fraser did well to block it the rebound was knocked in to reduce the leeway. Straight from the re-start LEITH won possession in the centre circle and ran through to slot past Fraser and all of a sudden it was all square. From then on the hoops largely dominated and had several chances to go ahead. Steven saw an attempted lob well tipped away by Fraser and Wallace cut in only to fire into the side netting. The keeper was ten off is line sharply to deny Wallace again, but Ellon were still a threat on the break and Tait shot well over from a good far post cross. The home side swarmed forward again with Ads low shot from an angle well saved and Wallace & Yeats both heading wide. The best chance came with just a couple of minutes left, with Wallace finding space on he right and he cut he ball back to Steven B and his fierce shot looked net bound until Fraser made a tremendous save to deny him and earn his side a point.
