Dyce Juniors FC v Montrose Roselea

The hoops picked up a great three points with a hard fought and in the end deserved win over a Roselea side enjoying a fantastic first season in the top flight. Midweek signing Jason Coyle was in the starting line up but Dicky was injured and dropped out of the squad altogether.
The opening 20 minutes saw very little goalmouth action. The home side had slightly more of the play but without troubling MacLeod in the Roselea goal. His first taste of action was in the 20th minute when young Jae advanced and tried his luck from distance but the stopper parried well. Moments later there were visiting shouts for a penalty, which from some angles it might well have looked like one but Gogs just managed to time his tackle to perfection to get a foot on the ball. Just before the half hour Roselea thought they had taken the lead when Beedie hit one from 20 yards that Andy beat out but when the rebound was knocked in the whistler made an offside call. Tough one for him with no assistants but either way it must have been pretty close. Play went straight up to the other end and after a quick beak by Leith he cut the ball back to Mark, who's shot was deflected wide. Ads also put over a great cross but there were no takers. With 38 minutes on the clock we grabbed the lead though when LEITH sprung the Roselea offside trap and rounded MacLeod to slot in. Just as it looked as if we would have a half time lead Montrose levelled in the 43rd minute. Unusual to see a centre half in the right wing position but that's where Reoch was and he swung in a great cross giving GREIG a simple task of nodding in from close range.
The first chance of the second half fell to Taylor but from a great position his shot hit the side net. Coyle saw his shot deflected over before a fine build up resulted in a corner which fell to Adam M but he blazed his shot just over. Roselea came back and had a free kick deflected wide before Collier found space in the box but his low ball across goal was cleared. With quarter of an hour left the decisive goal arrived and and it was for the hoops. TAYLOR and MacLeod jumped together for a hanging cross and when the keeper didn't collect the ball Mike tapped in from close range. The remainder of the match saw both teams get into good positions to get dangerous balls into the box, but the back lines dealt with them well meaning that neither keeper was forced into a save. In the last action of the match Roselea player/manager Collier picked up a straight red from whistler McLaren for some comments made towards him in the centre circle.
