Colony Park v Dyce Juniors FC

The hoops kept their unbeaten run going, but had to settle for a point after a goal-less stalemate at Inverurie. With an abundance of water lying on the pitch on Friday, the game looked to be in doubt but the rain stopped and overnight winds helped dry it out sufficiently to allow the game to go ahead albeit the ground was still soft.
 
Colony were first to threaten when Adam M lost possession and Still was given a free shot from 16 yards but Reid made a great stop turning the ball round for a corner. At the other end Mark B tried his luck from 20 yards but his effort didn’t really trouble Gray in the home goal. Scott Burnett then dispossessed a home defender his near post shot was well parried wide although squaring the ball might have been a better option. Colony had another chance when a shot in the box was blocked and Cochrane’s effort from the rebound looked netbound until Wallace made a fine goal line clearance. Tom Hutch headed over from a corner with our next chance, but chances were at a premium with Colony managing to retain possession much better but failing to trouble Craig in goal and the first half ended level.
A quick early break found Coyle in a great position but his cut back was weak and easily cleared. Mark had another go from the edge of the box but again Gray dealt with it comfortably enough. Wallace was unfortunate to collect a yellow for a tackle that didn’t even look a foul, and Craig did fantastically well to hold the resultant free kick. Wallace then put one narrowly wide and at this point the game had 0-0 written all over it. Then in the 83rd minute a flurry of chances came for the hoops. Firstly a corner fell to Mark and and Gray made a tremendous save from his shot, with the rebound then being smacked off the post. The ball was cleared only as far as Tom Hutch 25 yards out and his shot brought another fine save from Gray with the keeper then again saving from Esslemont who had latched on to the rebound. A minute later a clearance fell to Wallace 20 yards out and his low screamer was heading into the bottom corner until Gray again got down to make another top class save, and from the corner a goal line clearance prevented an own goal. And after all that Colony almost nicked the three points in the 4th minute of stoppage time when McKay looked a tad offside but was allowed to run clean through on Reid but the stopper made a fine save to deny him and the points were shared.
